Description: Black on blue delicate paper, dog resting on cabinet at center, arms to the left, denomination to the right, issuer name above, uniface. This note was issued under Argentine occupation as a result of the War of the Triple Alliance, also known as the Paraguayan War. This war was fought between Paraguay and Uruguay, Brazil, and Argentina, primarily over the important Rio de la Plata region. Lezica y Lanus, one of the financiers of the war, operated The Proveeduria (supply house) of the Argentine army, and issued these notes for the purchase of supplies which eventually became circulating currency in the occupied region.
