The notes were issued by a type of regional public works society, and are more like circulating bonds rather than traditional banknotes because they bore 1% interest to the bearer after a certain amount of time (also evidenced by an interest-paid stamp on the back). It is assumed that the issuance of these notes was used to raise funds for public works projects in the area around Montevideo. 173mm x 107mm.
